Good to the Last Drop

I've been hanging out in Stockholm this week for work but will be making my way back home early tomorrow morning. With the nine hour time shift and the resulting jet lag, I've been feeling pretty tired all week, so I've been keeping myself well-caffeinated. Luckily for me, the coffee over in Sweden is quite good - I haven't had a bad cup o' joe yet. No wonder that Sweden is among the world's leading countries in the per-capita consumption of coffee.

Good seeing you there. Meatballs were great weren't they...

I am very jealous that you are in a place where you can get a stellar cup of coffee!

I hope you were able to enjoy many of the local delicacies, like Surströmming - the fermented herring also known as rotten fish!

OFG,

I was actually looking to try some Surströmming, but I didn't come across any during my short stay. However, I did enjoy a lot of other types of fish and seafood, including herring (in many different forms), bleak roe, and arctic char.

Thomas, good to see you there too. I liked the meatballs, but was expecting to see the köttbullar in some sort of sauce...

Kelli,

Yup, it was nice to have good coffee wherever we went. We noted that we didn't come across a single Starbucks during our time there...

I've had Surströmming. If you want to try it, just buy some sardines, open the can and leave it in your cupboard for a year. Then enjoy!

So Nick, I think that what you're trying to say is that it has an acquired taste...

My understanding is that you need to get drunk before eating it (thank god I was). I swear I could smell it coming out of my pores the next day, though the more likely explanation for the lingering odor is simply that surstromming particles had permeated everything, including the inside of my nose.
